Smokies Cognition and Neuroscience Symposium (SCANS) is an informal event featuring cognitive and neuroscience laboratories from the sponsoring schools, sharing information on six main topics:

- Attention
- Memory
- Language
- Control Processes
- Emotion and Motivation
