Research Interests
My interests lie in the area of the effects of prior knowledge and training.
- One project employed warnings to investigate the effect of prior knowledge on inferences. Accuracy data were enriched with follow-up interviews to tap into what information participants based their decisions on and how this differed as a function of age. Warnings were either consistent with or counter to experience.
- Another project addressed whether there are age-related differences in what we remember when we encounter information that contradicts what we just recently read and learned.
- I am also interested in training and a co-investigator on a study exploring older adult’s attitudes about technology as well as their training needs and preferences.
- Currently I am exploring the various ways that task analysis can be used to understand prior or newly acquired knowledge and how this can be used for training.
