When we encounter a new situation, we can draw on many different sources of
information to guide our understanding and interpretation of meaning and
action.  In two of my projects I present a scenario in which people come across
information that is counter to their knowledge and experience, either recently
acquired or existing for a longer time.  I am interested in the type of
information we base our inferences and decisions on, and what we remember short-
term and long-term.

I am also interested in training and skill acquisition.  I am a co-investigator
on a study exploring older adult’s attitudes about technology as well as their
training needs and preferences.  In a related project I am developing, I will
use task analysis to determine training needs and content, and examine the
connection to theories of skill acquisition.
