TWO POSITIONS AT GEORGIA TECH. The School of Psychology in the College of Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology announces two tenure-track professor positions with a position start date of August 2019. These positions are the first of up to four tenure-track positions being filled in our School, targeting but not limited to health, well-being, safety, and related areas. We anticipate hiring one assistant professor and one mid-career professor this year, but exceptional applicants at higher ranks will also be considered. All candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. degree in Psychology or a related field at the time of employment. Candidates should have a strong publication record and research funding commensurate with their time in rank. Successful candidates will also have a record of teaching effectiveness and, if appropriate for their seniority, mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The School of Psychology provides an excellent environment for research, teaching, and mentoring. Our School comprises faculty and graduate students who work in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Quantitative Psychology, Engineering Psychology, Cognitive & Brain Sciences, and Cognitive Aging.
Position 1: Engineering Psychology/Human Factors and/or Applied Experimental. We are looking to hire at least one tenure track/tenured faculty member for the Engineering Psychology program. Our Engineering Psychology program emphasizes application-inspired foundational psychological science. The position is part of a major initiative to grow and to enhance existing strengths in Engineering Psychology. Although the specific area of research is open, preference will be given to applicants whose research has the potential to advance interdisciplinary psychological science in the areas of health, well-being, and safety, and who can forge fruitful collaborations with faculty in other areas in the School, and across the Institute.
Successful candidates will contribute to our mission of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Engineering Psychology and support our program in Human Factors (accredited by the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society). The Engineering Psychology program has strong connections to other Schools and programs at Georgia Tech (e.g., Graphics, Visualization, and Usability Center [GVU], Institute for People and Technology [IPaT]). We also partner in the world-leading interdisciplinary GT Masters in Human-Computer Interaction.
Position 2: Area Open. We are looking to hire a second tenure track/tenured faculty member beginning August 2019. This position may be in Engineering Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Cognitive Aging, or Quantitative Psychology. As with the first position, although the specific area of research is open, preference will be given to applicants whose research has the potential to advance interdisciplinary psychological science in the areas of health, well-being, and safety, and who can forge fruitful collaborations with faculty in other areas in the School, and across the Institute.\
